“In the beginning, God created...”
God Himself. See, in the very beginning - I mean the very beginning - God created. Simple. Genesis 1:1, the first verse of the Bible, states “In the beginning, God created…” Later in that chapter, God creates man in His very own image. The fact that humans are created in the image of God implies one thing for certain…we are creators. It is only natural that we take after the first and most prominent feature of our Father. With this being said, each and every one of us are “creative” in a sense. Each in completely different ways from the next with some more prominently creative than others. Regardless of the circumstances, we are created to create. Not aimlessly, but with a purpose. A purpose to better each other by changing the relation to our work further than simply work. No one did this better than C.S. Lewis, writer from Ireland. He suggests,
“The question is not whether we should bring God into our work or not. We certainly should and must…The question is whether we should simply (a.) Bring Him in in the dedication of our work to Him, in the integrity, diligence, and humility with which we do it or also (b.) Make His professed and explicit service our job.”
It is our duty, not merely a choice to create. Use the mind you were given. Think profound, original thoughts. Create.
